Origin of the name & legend of the cuvée

Every year we create a unique cuvée that combines the qualities of different fruit varieties, flowers, herbs and spices. Thanks to the brandy strength of 55% vol, even the finest nuances of flavour come to the fore. The result is a enjoyment of the highest subtlety and elegance.

Distillate characteristics

In this speciality brandy, we blend the characters of various European fruit varieties with one of the oldest spices in the world. The careful combination of distillates from raspberries, strawberries, sweet cherries, sour cherries and Williams pears harmonises excellently with lime and ginger spirits.

Prinz distillery process

The exquisite ingredients for this vintage cuvée are personally checked by the Prinz family, the master distiller and two other employees for their degree of ripeness, sweetness, appearance and fullness of aroma.
All hand-sorted fruits and roots are washed with spring water. Except for the lime, all fruits are pitted and processed separately into mash. The limes are finely chopped with their peel and macerated in alcohol for several days. The ginger roots are also chopped and macerated in alcohol.
Then the master distiller distils all the macerates and fermentation mashes twice, one after the other. Fine Distillery Prinz uses the strict, in-house Hafele distilling process for this. We have been distilling under vacuum since 2004. In this way, we lower the distillation temperature by up to 30°C, preserving the fruit aromas.

Storage and blending

Depending on the fruit or spice, the distillates are stored in stoneware containers in our cellar for up to six years. At a constant temperature of around 16°C, the distillates are given sufficient time and rest to fully develop their complex, distinctive varietal character.
In the final stage, the master distiller blends the mature distillates and brings the composition to brandy strength with the purest mountain spring water. Here, the distillates merge into a harmonious whole in which all the fruit and spice notes blend: the cuvée.

Character and enjoyment: four seasons

To begin with, the nose is reminiscent of lime, followed by light notes of raspberry, strawberry and cherry. Then ginger and Williams-Christ pear make themselves felt. The initial aroma makes you want to enjoy all facets of this combination.
On the palate, the berry fruits develop their full potential with floral to marmalade notes. The dense fruit flavour and the fine spiciness of the Williams-Christ pear lie underneath. The cherry comes through with crisp fruit and subtle notes of marzipan and bitter almond. The flavour is rounded off on the palate by bright lime aromas and the pleasant spiciness of ginger.
All four seasons are reflected in the composition: sweet strawberries for spring, aromatic raspberries and cherries for summer, finely spiced Williams-Christ pears for autumn, and spicy ginger for winter. The familiar fruits encourage us to explore nature and enjoy freshly-picked delicacies, while the limes awaken a longing for sunny beaches.
The 2020 Cuvée takes us through the year and lets us wander off into the unknown. A multi-layered tasting experience that is a enjoyment to share with good friends.

Enjoyment recommendation

This Cuvée is best enjoyed at room temperature. Pour the brandy into a Hafele Glass and let it breathe for 2-3 minutes. In the bulbous glass, the Cuvée can fully develop its fruity and spicy notes. Maybe even listen to Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons" to accompany the enjoyment!
